West Queen West Study Walking Tour

Beginning in July, City of Toronto planning staff began conducting a study of West Queen West from Bathurst St. to Roncesvalles Ave. The study will look at the heritage character and value of buildings in the area, height of new developments, existing policies, public space improvements, transit issues and parking in the area, understanding and defining the character of the street and developing a vision for future development along the street. The first of two walks is set to take place this Saturday November 8th and will focus on Parkdale. Starting from Dufferin at the Amphitheatre the walk will continue west, ending at Roncesvalles. Community members are encouraged to join the walk to share thoughts and ideas about the neighbourhood. More details can be found here about the walk and the study. WQW Study

The Lab Cab Festival entertains Parkdale for a second year!

This past weekend the Parkdale Village BIA sponsored the second Lab Cab Festival & Sidewalk Sale in Parkdale Village!  Patrons enjoyed over 100 multi-arts performers at 80+ venues and it was a wonderful opportunity for visitors to meet business owners, shop locally and participate in free activities! A huge thanks to all our volunteers, the festival organizers, the artists and shop owners who took part. Also, thanks to the organizations and community partners that supported the event, the residents and visitors who came out to support Parkdale!  Please enjoy some event photos online at Lab Cab & Parkdale BIA!

Restaurant Study Update – Settlement Offer

On July 8, 2014 City Council will be considering the recent settlement offer received from the Ontario Restaurant, Hotel and Motel Association (“ORHMA”) in respect of their appeals to the Ontario Municipal Board of By-laws 1049-2013 and 1050-2013, enacted by City Council on July 19, 2013. This is following a mediation which took place between parties in late June 2014 regarding the Queen Street West Restaurant Study between Roncesvalles Avenue and Dufferin Street.

If the settlement is rejected by City Council, which the City Solicitor and the Chief Planner recommend, and a compromise cannot be reached, a 5 day hearing may be scheduled to begin on August 11, 2014.

For more information about the City Council meeting on July 8th, 2014, please click here.
